DNA
Standard
Manual extraction of DNA for smaller projects. Input varies according to your project's needs, contact us to discuss.
High-throughput
Plate-based extraction of DNA for projects with >8 samples. Requires 20mg of animal tissue, 30mg fresh plant tissue, or 10mg of dried plant tissue to be submitted in provided matrix tubes. Contact us to arrange matrix tube availability.
High Molecular Weight
Extraction of high molecular weight DNA for long-read applications. We use a variety of different protocols depending on the tissue type, including PacBio NanoBind and Qiagen Genomic tips. Requires flash-frozen tissue. Other preservation methods, such as RNAlater, can result in low yield or poor performance downstream.
For plants, provide 1–3g young leaves. For animals, provide >250mg low-DNA-content tissue (muscle, skin), >50 mg high-DNA-content tissue (liver, spleen), 20µl nucleated blood, or 200µl non-nucleated blood. For other extractions, mass required will vary substantially depending on your organism, tissue, and sequencing application. Please contact us to discuss.
RNA
Extraction of RNA using Zymo Direct-Zol. For plants, provide 250mg flash-frozen young leaves or pulverized tissue stabilized in RNAlater. For animals, provide 25mg low-DNA-content tissue (muscle, skin) or 10 mg high-DNA-content tissue (liver, spleen) either flash-frozen or stabilized in Trizol or RNAlater.
